For Immediate Release

July 20, 2005 - Miramar, Florida... FLA Orthopedics, a leading manufacturer of orthopedic
supports and bracing products, has acquired American Professional Bracing Inc., a major supplier of
off-the-shelf spinal bracing products.
True to its strategy of offering one of the most complete and innovative product lines in the
industry, FLA’s acquisition of APB adds respected, patented semi-custom back braces to the company.
The fast-growing APB products, used for rehabilitation and correction, complement FLA’s broad range
of supports and braces for the wrist, elbow, knee, back and ankle.
"American Professional Bracing moves FLA into a new market that also opens up fresh opportunities for
our HME retail and other customers," says Rex Niles, FLA’s Chief Executive Officer. "Off-the-shelf back braces
are taking market share from custom braces because they are more convenient and provide the necessary
treatment at a fraction of the cost."
Overall, demand for back support products is growing. With an aging population, more people are
experiencing disc disorders and other back-related problems. This growing number of injuries, along
with more successful treatment procedures, is leading to an increase in spinal surgeries.
FLA will be releasing the V-Loc™ LSO Spinal Orthosis to its customers next month.
